Barbara Crews of Collectibles at About.com writes:
"Recently eBay hosted a Collectibles Summit, bringing together a cross section of approximately twenty editors, publishers, appraisers, etc. from the World of Collecting.
The objectives of the meeting were to share information, identify challenges and develop ways to work together. The one point reiterated several times throughout the summit was "eBay is committed to Collectibles". eBay feels that Collectibles is their keystone and are dedicated to keeping those roots strong, as they continue to create a marketplace for hard-to-find and vintage items. But first a little bit about the grounds...
The lobby is simple, but attractive with a display of Pez that is seen as the front doors are entered... Once we were into the actual office areas, it looked no different than any computer oriented company."
Obviously she didn't make it up to the eBay Design Labs

That's were the crazies live. ;)

Fortune's David Kirkpatrick just posted his story on social-networking sites. My obsession with LinkedIn is cited in the story.

This is a really smart article - analyzing the current state of social networking.
There may be a new kind of Internet emerging--one more about connecting people to people than people to websites. The blog phenomenon, where blogs link to blogs, is another aspect of this same trend. Mark Pincus, an investor in Friendster and founder of Tribe.net, calls this the early phases of the "peopleweb"--a user-controlled network of identities and relationships that transcends any one site or company. How that web will take shape remains murky, but in the explosive growth of social networking we are surely seeing the future, using the Net to connect people with bonds of trust and friendship--and maybe sex.
My own viewpoint says there's money in dating/mating, money in jobs and classified listings and money connecting business connects together. The next question is: "what else?" (emphesis added - micah)

How about connecting people together around things they love and sprinkling on some commerce?
Ok, enough cheer-leading. I've said I think there our some amazing possibilities to connect the weblog world with eBay, but I'm gonna stop bugging the 3 people who read my site regularly and not talk about it again until I have something I can demo... or at least I'll try. :)
